AYD Framework: Intake & Prioritization

Diving into the Accelerate Your Delivery (AYD) Framework, the next series installment focuses on Intake and Prioritization —the art of identifying and championing projects that align with strategic goals, bringing the highest value to your organization. With the AYD approach, your team can confidently select impactful projects, streamlining efforts and aligning resources to what matters most.

Intake & Prioritization-Supporting the “Right” Projects

Do you have more project requests than resources to support your initiatives? Is your PMO supporting the most strategic initiatives for your organization? These are common, yet important questions faced by today’s project management leaders.

  • Create an efficient business case/intake process: Develop a business case/intake tool to receive, score and review project requests. The intake process should be objective and focused on reviewing required pertinent project information to best assess the request and ensure resources are utilized effectively.

  • Determine strategic projects: Create quantifiable categories to score and determine the most important projects (ex: project ROI). The creation of this process ensures that projects meet predetermined criteria to receive PMO resourcing support.

  • Align your organizational strategy with your PMO: Align your strategic planning with a portfolio/program/project structure to provide PM support to the strategic goals. Additionally, this creates an effective collaboration model between your organizational strategy and PMO, allowing the PMO to drive the execution of your organizational vision.
